One Year Bible Reading

Greetings to all 3 of you reading this,
I know there are a few more who are reading this but not posting or commenting.  This could be a great time to share some thoughts?  I am following the One Year Bible reading plan.  Today's OT reading comes from 1 Chron. 24-26:11.  It is here that priests, heads of families, and musicians were assigned their duties by the casting of lots.
I would love to hear some other thoughts about this passage.  I am wondering if Jakim (who the 12th lot fell to), decided he wasn't "gifted" or "called" to that particular work and so decided he just wouldn't do it?  Or if he maybe didn't like the way Aaron had laid things out for his specific duty?  Or if he just wasn't appreciated enough and compensated enough and so left for another temple?  Jakim had a "new way" of doing things that was obviously far superior to Aaron's archaic way of performing his duties.  What did Aaron know anyways?  (if you don't know me that well, you should be sensing the sarcasm about now)

Any thoughts on how this passage, and the descriptions of duties and the way they were assigned, speaks to us and our service to the Lord?  If you want another passage that could challenge us on this topic, look at Wednesday's reading from 1 Chron. and the "priest" who's only job was to bake bread.

Peace & Grace,
Kyle

I think it's just great to have a job. What would the other option be...on the outside looking in.

Maybe this whole blog thing is not going to catch on in our midst at this time? Maybe in another 15 years we'll give it another go?

Well, I know how Jakim feels...

I just came from a meeting at the Buffalo City Mission that I was invited to (it was a breakfast for Church leaders in the City) I was volunteered by the Administrator of one of the Missions Programs to organize the catering for their Women's Program Graduation (without my prior knowledge or consent!!!)

So do I accept my lot and keep my mouth shut? What would good ol' Jack say?
